ARTHUR - M10-106

What Makes Him “Special”

Terrified when dumped for several days in a shelter kennel awaiting euthanization, he panicked when we placed him in PetSmart’s Adoption kennel! We won’t put him through that trauma again!  Arthur’s a handsome black and white kitten probably born in late summer, 2010.  He came to Magicats when a caring shelter person asked us to intervene.  He’s a gentle, shy guy who is relearning how to trust in his foster home with humans and other cats.  He sidesteps confrontation with some of our more dominant foster residents, but gets along well with the milder guys.  Since he came to us has never been outside, nor had exposure to dogs or kids.  He should probably be an inside only cat.  This mild fellow would be a great companion in a calm, affectionate household where he can take his own time figuring out how to fit in.

Arthur’s current  on all shots, has had his surgery, and is negative for FIV/FELV.  Because of his kennel trauma, we will need to make a private adoption.

If you’re interested, call us or contact us via e-mail and we’ll arrange a meet-and-greet!
SOLIE - M11-108

What Makes Him "Special"

SOLIE, a beautiful blue point Siamese male is about 18 months old and has a Manx-type tail.  As a kitten,  he was found by a concerned citizen, along with his mother, 26 miles east of Twin Falls and west of Paul, just off the interstate and came to the attention of Magicats volunteers.  We helped both cats with basic veterinary care including their surgery, shots, and testing, and during the veterinary visit, it was determined that his left hind leg was injured and appeared to be broken. The family who found them took Mom home with them, and left Solie with us to see if we could help his injury.  After the veterinary examination, it was determined that he had a fractured nerve in his foot, which by that time had developed an ulcer.  To correct the problem, his lower leg and foot were bandaged and splinted for four months, and he joined the foster household where he made a good adjustment.  Today, Solie walks with a slight limp and can run at a goodly pace.  He has feeling and movement in his toes, but his heel and ankle are weak.  He doesn’t climb trees or fences, but he can jump and has no trouble making the two jumps to reach an elevated food dish which was employed to keep the food from our dogs.  Because he is used to jumping onto an elevated ledge for his food, it is possible he might mistake a counter top or table for his food shelf, but he takes gentle correction well.

Our veterinarian recommended that he be an INSIDE ONLY kitty, but Solie didn’t get the message.  Once he discovered the dog door, this very independent fellow decided he enjoyed hanging around the yard and visiting some of the neighbors. In a new home or unfamiliar circumstances, it would be better for him to be INSIDE ONLY.

Mostly, Solie ignores the elderly family dogs, but he tends to be bossy with other cats.  With humans, he’s a big baby.  Solie loves to be carried around and adored.  He has a quick, ready purr for anyone willing to oblige with a cuddle.  While he will always likely have the slight limp, with reasonable care in a responsible forever home, we know of no other physical issues, and medical information will be provided upon his adoption.  We would love to see him in a great forever home with a family who would love this beautiful, affectionate, personality-loaded cat.  If you’d like to know more about Solie or arrange a personal interview, please drop us an e-mail and we’ll make the arrangements.
NATALIE - M11-002

What Makes Her “Special”

Natalie was hit by a car as a tiny kitten and not expected to live.  She fought hard and after 4 months in the  hospital under the care of a great vet, she came home to Magicats foster care.  Complete medical information is available to the adoptive family.  Although her recovery is complete, to prevent future problems of arthritis or other issues that could develop from an active outdoor life, she needs to be an “inside only” cat.  Like some of our other teenagers, Natalie has had trouble finding a good adoptive match.  On two occasion, she was adopted as a companion to an already resident cat, but quickly demonstrated that she had no interest in being any resident cat’s “companion,” thank you very much.  Here in foster care, she is happy with the colony which includes cats of all ages, and is the first to land on the lap of her foster parents whenever the opportunity comes.

Natalie is a short haired tortie with distinctive black patches on her brindle coat.  After a somewhat scrawny start, she has blossomed into a beautiful, poised young lady, well aware of how beautiful she is and who shows no sign of her injuries.  When returned from the adoptive homes, her reaction was, “What took you so long?”  We believe she would be a great cat for a quiet household who are interested in a warm, intelligent companion.  Although she might eventually adjust to another cat, she needs to start out as First Cat - and quite possibly, as Only Cat!  Now about 9 months old, she’s healthy, current on shots, and negative for FIV/FELV.  Because of her problematic adoption history, we will place her carefully and privately.

If you’d like to meet this unique young lady, please call or e-mail us and we’ll arrange a meet-and-greet.
EMILY - M10-017

What Makes Her "Special"

Emily came to us as a frightened, very young, new mom who had been abandoned at a local animal shelter with her tiny kittens. Her kittens have been placed in forever homes and we feel Emily is ready for her new home too.

Emily is a gorgeous black-and-white girl with a glossy coat who, we think, must be a year-and-a-half or two years old.

For a while, we had her at the Petsmart Adoption Center but Emily became too anxious to stay there.
We know nothing about her past history but are guessing her previous home was less than kind to Emily. She is terrified of other cats and a little less so with dogs. If she feels threatened, Emily can be very aggressive with other animals.

Though she has not been exposed to little children in our foster home, we recommend she not be placed in a home with children.

In our foster home, once Emily realized the humans here were going to keep her safe, she warmed right up to us. We warmed up to her, too and found her to be a very sweet girl who loves to nap companionably next to a human at the computer desk or television.

Since she figured out our pet door, she often goes outside to find a sunny, warm spot to sit quietly with her eyes closed in contentment. Window sills are also among her favorite places.

Emily has been fed a high-quality dry cat food and loves a treat of a half a small can of soft food as a treat at night. Occasionally, she has a bit of tummy trouble so we would recommend she not have a food that contains fish or dairy products.

She is fastidious about her litter box.

We would love to see Emily placed in a loving, forever home where she is allowed the time to adjust to her surroundings and shine as the lovely and quiet girl she is.

COOKIE - M11-093

What Makes Her "Special"

COOKIE is a pretty little Maine Coon mix who came to Magicats almost starved and very pregnant after her dysfunctional human family disintegrated.  She's not quite two years old.  Thanks to our caring veterinarians and super loving foster care, she successfully raised four great kittens who have all found wonderful FOREVER homes.  Because of her previous circumstances, she had a hard pregnancy during which she suffered from a serious viral infection that could not be effectively treated until her kittens were weaned.  After that, she had great veterinary care including a rather lengthy hospitalization under medication and observation and she has recovered well.  However, the infection has left her with a permanent sinus condition that will need lifelong monitoring.

After leaving the hospital, she has been fostering in a warm, loving home with other kitties and great food.  She's gained weight and is currently managing the sinus problem well. As she gets healthier, her coat is thickening and the Maine Coon ancestry is beginning to show.  Cookie gets along well with other cats, doesn't know much about dogs, has met a few children but likes them older rather than younger.

She's negative for FIV/FELV, and has had her surgery and all her shots for a year.  Cookie definitely needs to be an INSIDE ONLY kitty in a home with an attentive, loving cat person owner who can recognize the sinus symptoms and treat them appropriately. She'll need a good scratching post, a clean litter box, a few toys, and a great lap for watching television and engaging in long conversations.

If you'd like to meet a lovely young lady who just needs a little extra help, please e-mail us and we'll arrange a meet-and-greet.  Meantime, she will continue in her loving foster home. (All medical and diagnostic information will be available to Cookie's new person upon adoption.)
